Terrance has refined and conceptualized the fine essence of leadership. Overtime he has succeeded in: Being appointed to the Deans Distinguish Students List at Bloomfield College, being recognized at Bloomfield College for redefining student leadership, successfully developing and orchestrating the Day and Evening Student Government Merger at Bloomfield College, making the Academic Deans list for four consecutive semesters, Becoming the Resident Director for the 2003 Summer EOF Program at Bloomfield College, being appointed as the Coordinator of a newly implemented Residence Life Development Program under the auspices of Bloomfield College’s Division of Student Affairs, serving as the Student Event Coordinator for the Office of Co-Curricular Programs, Office Assistant for the Dean of First Year Experience and Special Programs/Executive Director of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program, becoming a Tutor/Counselor for the Upward Bound Program, becoming a 3-year Resident Advisor for the Residence Life Program, becoming the Student Coordinator for the College’s Ambassador Program all during his time at Bloomfield College of New Jersey.
In addition he also served as: the Associate Director/Youth Events Coordinator for the South Ward Cultural Center of Newark, the Community Coordinator for Tri-City Peoples Corporation, a Family Service Worker for the County of Essex, a Political Consultant to Mayor Cory A. Booker, the Deputy Campaign Manager to Councilman Oscar S. James, II, a Deputy Field Director for Governor Jon Corzine, a Member of the Essex County Human Services Advisory Council, a Newark Museum Advisory Board Member, a Member of the United Community Corporation Board of Directors, the Director of Constituent Services for the City of Newark, the Director of the Newark Youth One Stop Career Center and an Environmental Justice Organizer for the Clean Water Fund and the NewarkDIG organization.
Having served as a director under the Cory A. Booker administration, Terrance still holds the record as the youngest Director to serve on a municipal, county, state or federal level here in the state of New Jersey. Terrance is also a member of the 2003 College Leadership of New Jersey class, as well as a member of 2000 Boys State of New Jersey class. In 2008, Terrance L. Bankston was recognized in Ebony Magazine as the top 30 under 30 leaders on the rise in the United States of America. Mr. Bankston was the only individual from New Jersey, recognized by Ebony Magazine that year and had a solo feature on the article’s cover page. Terrance continues to serve an array of clientele as the sole-proprietor of Taking The Plunge, TTP. Past and current clients include, Gov. Jon Corzine, the Essex County (NJ) Democratic Party, the Booker Team for Newark, William Paterson University, Bloomfield College of New Jersey, YMCA, East Orange and Newark Public School Districts, BYOB Enterprises, and the Director of Special Initiatives, Events & Parent Leaders for the Parent Coalition for Excellent Education (PC2E) in Newark and Camden, New Jersey. Presently, Terrance also services both the NewarkDIG organization as an Environmental Justice Organizer and as a senior consultant at EIE Studios in New jersey. In 2018, Terrance is also the Chairman and Founder of Parent University New Jersey and a candidate for council-member, in Newark, New Jersey. Terrance states that his recipe for being successful is: confidence, common sense, dedication, drive, will, and surrounding yourself with positive thinkers and achievers.
