TERRANCE L. BANKSTON REFOCUSES POLITICAL EFFORT
Bankston will continue his momentum and galvanize the community.

First I would like to thank each and everyone who has shown unrelenting support for my potential candidacy for Essex County Freeholder-at-Large. As you may be aware I have recently decided to refocus my political efforts with an eye on 2010. On today, I still stand committed to effectively bridging the generation gap in government. While we ran an unparallel preliminary campaign, our bid for the Essex County Democratic Party's nomination was denied. As a result, I have decided to refocus all of my energy on my hometown; Newark. I am looking forward to not just serving Newark’s residents through my current position as the Director of Constituent Affairs, but in an elected capacity in 2010; therefore, I have reformed my exploratory committee to critically examine my readiness. 

I am asking all of my supporters to stand with me once again in my political pursuits. Moreover, I am asking that you take a stand with me to make total inclusion a reality.The strides we have made during the past few months were recognized and celebrated by the community and were not in vein. With your help and persistence, the ears of government will ring to the voice of the people, not just here in Newark, but on all levels of government throughout New Jersey.

I am confident that in 2010 many will marvel at our magnificent accomplishments over the recent past; however our best work is still before us. We have much to do, and as always, the present time is the best time to get going. 

There is a need to add new voices and new energy to the discourse of our future. We remain challenged by:

• Environmental
• Public Safety
• Educational
• Social Services Issues

We need all citizens involved in the movement towards new thinking and new strategies for resolution. I am optimistic that the combination of the skills, talents and wisdom of both the veteran and younger generation will facilitate the exploration of new ideas and new paradigms to examine and address our critical challenges; and continue to move Newark to a higher level of accomplishments. I represent four generations of family commitment and involvement in municipal, county and state level government. I am committed to ensuring that government works for ALL of its citizens.
